CelebrateNewton celebrates the work of outstanding artisans who are residents of Newton or are in some other way connected to the city. Over 50 artisans display and sell their work at the fair; they include weavers, jewelers, quilters, potters, printers, photographers and more. The event was founded by Sara Coen in 2002 as a fund–raiser for the Newton Schools Foundation, which sponsored the event through 2009. Newton Community Education (NCE) is the event sponsor for 2010.

NCE is a self-sustaining arm of the Newton Public Schools, open to all students, regardless of residence. We provide educational, social, cultural, and vocational programs to adults and children, endeavoring to provide high-quality classes at reasonable costs. Proceeds from CelebrateNewton will help us expand our program and provide scholarships to those in need.
