About Celebrate Newton

Celebrate Newton celebrates the work of outstanding artisans who are residents of Newton or are in some other way connected to the city. Over 50 artisans display and sell their work at the fair; they include weavers, jewelers, quilters, potters, printers, photographers and more. A highlight of the event each year is live music provided by local musicians.

The event was founded in 2002 as a fundraiser for the Newton Schools Foundation. Newton Community Education hosted the fair 2010-2019.  After a pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Newton Cultural Alliance took over as host in 2021.

About the Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA)

The Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA) is a consortium of nonprofit arts & culture organizations dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and sustaining art & culture in Newton, MA. NCA was incorporated in 2009 by a group of arts & culture nonprofits who sought to actively promote concepts and ideas of arts & culture in the City of Newton. NCA was designed as a resource for the entire community, to inspire, educate, and bring together audiences and artists in celebration of arts and culture. To this end, NCA assists and supports nonprofit organizations who are dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and sustaining arts & culture within the city. At its best, NCA, with its more than 30 member organizations, is the voice of arts & culture in Newton and a catalyst for civic engagement and partnerships, bringing culture and community together. Collectively, NCA members reach an estimated 60,000 patrons annually with their programs, concerts, performances, festivals, art installations, classes, and workshops.

In 2012, NCA purchased the Nathaniel Allen House, a Newton landmark on the National Register of Historic Places, and began the careful process of planning for its future as a dynamic cultural center. Since completion in 2020, the Nathaniel Allen House has become a center for a broad range of innovative arts exploration across disciplines, including theatre performances; concerts and recitals; and art exhibits; as well as a community space for educational and after-school programs; lectures, classes, workshops and demonstrations; and private parties.
